WIP - The Slim Comfort Signet Ring

WIP - The Slim Comfort Signet Ring

I saw a photograph of antique rings piled on a finger and could not stop thinking about the signet ring. I love the curved edges and apparent lack of a flat surface for the engraving. It felt very wearable and very tactile:

I've wanted to create a more traditional signet ring for ages. I already make an engraveable flat disc ring, which is a slight nod to the classic signet, but it doesn't have the same weight, which actually makes it the perfect pinky ring (and that's mostly how it's worn).

I decided that this would be hand carved from wax, I carved a low profile design, that is curvy and smooth, and wraps comfortably around the finger. I've been wearing it for a few weeks now and can happily say it is just what I was hoping for.

The surface has a matt finish, which I love, and am increasingly drawn to, for its crafted, warm feel, and I'm deciding whether to set some stones either side of the face, to introduce some colour, but I will definitely be having some engraving.

Either way, I'm very happy with how this has turned out, and I'm looking forward to adding it to the collection. I'll make sure I post any photos of the stones and/or engraving once I've decided what to do!
